Welcome to Led By Scouts

Thanks for visiting our page.

So many people have grown to love getting out in the fresh air for a nice long walk. I’ve done it for years myself. Busy with family and work requirements, an hour around the neighborhood, bringing the dog along in the evening or Saturday morning may be all we can grab. That’s where it starts. A desire is born.

We look into local parks, with meandering trails over hills and creeks, a still lake, and lots of trees. We check it out to find its better than the neighborhood. More free. More critters and birds around. More natural. We find ourselves refreshed, encouraged, maybe enlightened by the experience, that some how this is where we are meant to be. And so the desire grows.

We look into local hiker groups. Like-minded individuals from varying backgrounds like teachers, mechanics, plumbers, attorneys, medical professionals, web developers, mail carriers, who just want to get out walk in the woods for a while. Even more the desire burns.

Our bank account joins the path! Hiking shoes. A daypack with hydration bladder. Granola bars. Hiking apparel. Nalgene bottles (you gotta get two). Trail runners. Treking poles. More hiking apparel. A day pack for the dog. The bank account is exceedingly interested to the detriment of its own earned interest. And your interest is on steroids.

But you’re not exactly sure where it goes from here. You gotta have more hiking. You think about it at work. At night. In the shower. Not just for a couple hours or most of the day, but for two or three days. A week? Backpacking! That’s it!

But hold on a moment. What do you need? Where do you go? Who with? (Sorry Brother Timothy, “With whom?”) Do you need a map? Can you drink that water? What do you eat? How do you cook it? What do bears eat? Do you need you toothbrush? Do the bears care? Where’s the bathroom?!

You want answers because you want to try it. This backpacking thing. You’d just like a little help getting started.

So come Blaze the Trail with us. You’ll get those answers. And have an awesome experience doing it!
